RouteSense: Smart School Shuttle Finder

RouteSense: Smart School Shuttle Finder

Project Overview

This project is a web application designed to help school students find the most suitable shuttle from their nearest stop or current location. The app provides two main ways to search for routes. Students can either use their current physical location, where the system detects their coordinates using JavaScript or an external library and compares them with stored route data to calculate the shortest distance and suggest the best route, or they can manually search for their area using a search box. As they type, the app suggests matching locations based on keywords from the stored route data, similar to how search suggestions appear on YouTube. When a specific location is selected, the app displays detailed shuttle information on a separate page, including the route name, route number, driver’s name, contact details, and list of stops. If a student searches for a location that is not included in the route data, the system informs them that no route is available for that area and advises them to contact student services to add their stop. Overall, the application serves as a smart and user-friendly shuttle route finder for school students.
